Born and raised near the Everglades of South Florida, I give you MeRCY. Heavily influenced by the 90’s Golden Era of Hip Hop. He is the Founder and frontman of the iLLustrious Music Group and a true idealist of music.
Also known as the comicbook, japanese anime junkie. Son to a father who was a bass guitarist and an observative younger brother to an advanced Emcee, MeRCY was surrounded early on by musical inspiration during his childhood. Impacting his life in a major way was being introduced to Eric B & Rakims’ “Microphone Fiend” & Mobb Deeps’ “Shook Ones” timeless music videos. Those visuals motivated him even further. Fast forward to present day as he is praised for his ability to create a “devastating match between lyrics and production” by his fellow crew members.
Currently, working on his highly anticipated and long awaited album, The Prestige III, MeRCY is going all out. His latest effort was the critically acclaimed EP “Prelud3” which featured some underground favorites and birthed the smash hit “Her Name Is Beretta”. Before “Prelud3” and in his true consistent form, MeRCY made huge sound waves with the release of “The Prestige II” creating hit singles such as “Charisma” and “Lord Have Mercy” garnishing him great feedback throughout the music circuit. Having recently worked with legendary notables such as Sean Price, Nature, Skyzoo, Planet Asia, Big Noyd, Ali Vegas and more. MeRCY spent 2011 – 2014 opening up shows for the likes of Jadakiss, Vado, Action Bronson, Curren$y, Flatbush Zombies, Smoke DZA, Fred Da Godson & Cyhi Da Prince just to name a few.
MeRCY is no stranger to paying dues and hard work thus always striving to exceed his previous efforts with each new project. He fuels his passion by standing firmly by his personal motto that it’s all in the name of the “Process of Progress” Following the underground success of his recent projects, MeRCY has chosen to re-direct his efforts in a more mainstream direction. He constantly spends countless hours in the studio with in-house producer Solidified and his fellow iLLustrious cohorts Bishop. see. francis, yoamanduh & KoJazz, executing the recipe which has taken him the better part of a decade to perfect. We now see a maturing shift in him from the raw and gritty underground tone towards a more crisp and polished universal sound.
